I'm running for Congress to stand up for South Carolina,
not cut deals with Barack Obama.
Our Constitutional Rights
With assaults on our 2nd Amendment freedoms, our values, and our families, Barack Obama is trying to make good on his promise to "fundamentally transform America." Obama's agenda must be stopped. I will be a reliable vote and voice against Obama's assault on our freedoms.
I will remember that the Oath of Office says, "preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." We need to return to constitutional governance in America. Washington has it backwards: government exists to secure freedom and protect the people, not the government.
As a small businessman, I know how to create jobs and get our economy moving. The government's job is to simply get out of the way. We need lower taxes and less regulation; that is what will get our economy moving again.
South Carolina is already a low tax state, but we've still managed to cut nearly $26 BILLION in taxes for South Carolina families. Imagine what we could do if Washington cut taxes and balanced the budget, giving businesses the stability they need to grow. The federal government has now placed its burden of momentous debt on our children and grandchildren, but I know we can cut federal spending.
The recession hit South Carolina in 2007. Even though our budget was not as bloated as Washington's, we still managed to cut spending by 30% and balance the budget. Getting federal spending under control must be at the top of Congress's priorities.
We must balance the federal budget. As a state representative, I helped balance our state budget eighteen times. We must get spending under control, and it's time for a federal balanced budget amendment.
South Carolina Values
I am Pro-Family and Pro-Life. As a husband and the father of two children, I know that our South Carolina values are best and I will always stand up for them. I am a staunch defender of the Second Amendment and was rated an A+ by the NRA, one of the few incumbents to receive such a strong rating.
Peace through Strength
President Ronald Reagan proved to the world that American strength is the path to peace. I am concerned about the state of our military. We have the best soldiers in the world, but our resources are stretched thin and budget cuts endanger our fighting men and women. Standing up for our veterans, securing our national defense and protecting America from terrorism must remain top priorities. I will always protect the interests of those that have given their service to our country.
