Chip Limehouse announces campaign for Congress to fill vacancy left by Representative Tim Scott
“I’m running for Congress to stand up for South Carolina, not cut deals with Barack Obama.”
Charleston – Republican State Representative Chip Limehouse today announced his campaign for Congress in South Carolina’s First District. Limehouse will seek the Republican nomination in the primary on March 19th.
“Washington isn’t getting the job done. America – and South Carolina – deserve better. I’m running for Congress to stand up for South Carolina, not cut deals with Barack Obama,” said Limehouse.
Limehouse has been a leader on fiscal issues in Columbia. “I’ve helped balance budgets and cut spending. When the 2007 recession hit, South Carolina faced a serious budget deficit. We cut spending by 30%, and balanced our budget the same way our families do everyday,” said Limehouse.
Limehouse is a small businessman operating several family businesses in the Charleston area. He’s helped create hundreds of jobs for South Carolina families, and negotiated the new land acquisition by Boeing certain to bring hundreds of high paying jobs to the Low Country.
During his tenure in the legislature, Chip has voted to cut taxes on South Carolina families by nearly twenty-‐six billion dollars. He serves on the Ways and Means Committee and chairs the Subcommittee on Higher Education.
Chip’s Republican work started as a volunteer distributing campaign materials for conservative giants Ronald Reagan and Strom Thurmond.
Chip and his wife Sue have been married 20 years and are the parents of two children, Chase and Eliza. The campaign can be reached at 843.637.6377 or through the e-mail,
